MS Umesh at ‘Belli Hejje’ of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy on Saturday evening at Badami House disclosed that he cleared his loans from the award money he got. The result of what service I have put in – 60 years in theatre and 50 in years in cinema is this he pointed. There was pin drop of silence.

I have seen Rs.1 lakh in my life for the first time. For four years I made Rs.55000 loan for my health condition. I paid it promptly. MS Umesh shared his ‘Sihi-Kahi’ moments at the address and almost begged for chance to act in cinema.

Like Ashwathnarayana senior actor in supporting roles who made humble appeal weeping for opportunity to act at Sri Raghavendra Chitravani and at Varadappa Awards – MS Umesh also said don’t give charity. We have capacity. Give us job he mentioned. There is not a drop in the strength to act. This is what I tell producers of Kannada cine.

He agreed that he is here today because of the offers he got in stage, television and cinema – it was a ‘Bikshe’ I am able to stay. My father was in the drama company. So it was easy for me to get in to the shoes of acting at a very young age. The first dialogue I told in my life was ‘Kalabeda Kolabeda….of Sri Basavanna Vachana. I have only stolen the hearts of the people that’s all.

I have got enough of love from childhood. I am in the company of Kidney problem, Asthma, BP, Sugar ..the people affection is something more. It has increased my life span.
